14th IT Applications Conference:
Digital Convergence – Synergies in IT & Communications Technologies”

Inauguration on Thursday, by the Deputy Minister of Development,
Mr. Stavros Kalafatis

Renewed, with a purely business (B2B-Business to Business) and professional orientation and complemented by particularly interesting satellite events, conference and guest events by IT leaders and by the implementation of cutting-edge technologies for the first time, the 22nd INFOSYSTEM International Exhibition of Information Technology, Telecommunications and Digital Technology opens on Thursday (October 2) at Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre.

The 22nd INFOSYSTEM, as well as the works of the 14th IT Applications Conference, which will be held within the framework of the Exhibition, are to be inaugurated on Thursday, October 2, at 8.30 pm, by the Deputy Minister of Development, Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, at “Ioannis Vellidis” Congress Centre.

This year’s INFOSYSTEM, as the President of HELEXPO SA, Mr. Aristotelis Thomopoulos, stressed today at a Press Conference, addresses all forms of professionals and enterprises in various fields and sectors, as IT and telecommunications have become an integral part of production, services and commerce, providing those who utilize them in a timely, substantial fashion with comparative advantages and very positive financial and management results.

Guest Events by IT leaders

Mr. Thomopoulos then stressed that IT leaders selected the 22nd INFOSYSTEM to present their new products.
Specifically, Hewlett-Packard is organising the first Pan-Hellenic presentation of the company’s international Road Show, presenting all its new products, as well as Corporate Lectures at the 14th IT Applications Conference, which complements the works of the Exhibition. Other features include the first Pan-Hellenic presentation of products by Singular Logic, One Touch Retail by the Galaxy series, the new AVAYA IP Office, Singular Logic Credit Assist, as well as presentations of corporate solutions at the 14th IT Applications Conference.
This year’s event is also truly international in character, through a dynamic programme of business meetings organized by HELEXPO, with the support of the Network of SVVE Praxis (Federation of Industries of Northern Greece), from Greece and SE Europe, at www.expopartenariat.gr or by calling 800-800-40-40 free of charge, as well as through Tele-Partenariat, i.e. the possibility of making trade contacts through tele-presentations – teleconferences, which HELEXPO is providing to its exhibitors and visits for the first time.

Both the Tele-Partaneriatservice and another innovation of this year’s event, the dispatching of invitations through M-Ticket(i.e. dispatch, following pre-registration at www.helexpo.gr/mt, of a personal invitation in the form of a unique barcode on trade visitors’ cell phones, which will be scanned at the entrance of the Exhibition Centre), will showcase the “green” side of technology, as such innovations greatly contribute towards reducing transport and printing, respectively.

Exhibitors and visitors to this year’s INFOSYSTEM will also have the opportunity to use the following:
-         Free Bluetooth service: Upon entering the exhibition area, all visitors will receive via Bluetooth the exhibitors’ catalogue, the schedule of satellite events, the Exhibition map, as well as other services, such as free SMSs,
-         Free Wi-Fi connection: wireless broadband Internet access,
-         Free e-clipping dispatching: electronic sector clipping sent to visitors’ e-mail addresses.

Apart from technological innovations and programmes related to preregistration and comfortable, constructive visits to INFOSYSTEM, visitors will have the opportunity, after the end of the exhibition, to participate in a new, dynamic electronic market, where they can capitalize on the contacts they made during the exhibition throughout the year, until the next event, within the framework of www.afterexpomarket.gr, with the support of and in cooperation with the World Trade Centre of Thessaloniki., developed by HELEXPO

Mr. Thomopoulos added that this year’s organizational support by SEPVE (Association of ICT Enterprises of Northern Greece) is particularly significant and warmly thanked the Association, as well as its President, Mr. Anastassios Tzikas.

Participants

There will be 350 exhibitors at the 22nd INFOSYSTEM (as compared to 345 last year, although the change in the character of the event renders substantial comparison impossible), coming from 20 countries, namely: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the USA.

Also noteworthy is the group participation of enterprises from Bulgaria, as well as group participations, with the support of Regions, of IT and Communication enterprises of Northern Greece, providing the opportunity, through programmes for enhancing transactions within the framework of INFOSYSTEM, to promote the extroversion of hi-tech enterprises that are active and developing in the Greek territory.

14th IT Applications Conference

An outstanding feature of the 22ndINFOSYSTEM is the 14thITApplicationsConference, the largest conference of the sector in Greece, which comprises three pylons this year: business, research and the public sector. The conference is attended by select speakers and leaders from the field of IT and its central topic theme is “Digital Convergence – Synergies in IT & Communications Technologies”. The conference will be inaugurated along with INFOSYSTEM, on Thursday, October 2, at “I. Vellidis” International Congress Centre, by the Deputy Minister of Development, Mr. Stavros Kalafatis.

Proposals by SEPVE

From the Press Conference stand, the President of SEPVE, Mr. Anastassios Tzikas, stressed the upgraded quality of this year’s INFOSYSTEM and publicly made a series of proposals, which, in the view of SEPVE, can further enhance the event:
-  incorporation of the actions of INFOSYSTEM in the actions of the Innovation Zone,
- organizational cooperation with a foreign Exhibition organizer specializing in this sector,
- organisation of an INFOSYSTEMWeek (presentation of the Exhibition in the form of a Road-Show) in Athens, in order – in the words of the President of SEPVE – to successfully counter the mentality of concentrating all major events in Athens and to increase the participation of enterprises from Attica in the Exhibition.
- promotion of INFOSYSTEM, with the support of the entire city, as the most important exhibition event for Thessaloniki, etc.
