The procedure for holding the “Club Globalkan” finalized on 18th of May 2012.
"Club Globalkan" is a special music stage of the World Music Expo, WOMEX 2012 Thessaloniki, which is dedicated to the music of Balkans and will present artists from Greece and the neighboring countries of Southeastern Europe.
It is an initiative taken by the Greek local organizers of WOMEX, the World Music Exposition to be held in Thessaloniki on 17-21 October 2012.

Club Globalkan at WOMEX: Call for Proposals

Dear Friends & Neighbours,

WOMEX – the world music expo, taking place in Thessaloniki, Greece, from Wednesday 17 to Sunday, 21 October, will be featuring an extra stage ‘Club Globalkan’ dedicated to Balkan music, presenting artists from Greece and the Southeastern European neighbourhood during the three WOMEX Festival nights.

The Club Globalkan stage is an initiative by WOMEX's local partners in Greece. It is supported by the Municipality of Thessaloniki and organised by Gaia Live.

The call for showcase proposals for Club Globalkan is now open, with a deadline of Friday, 18 May.

Are you a professional musician/band and ready to go international? Do you deserve wider audiences and have the professional standards necessary to tour? If so, this call is for you!

Come perform at WOMEX 12, the premier world music Showcase event on the planet. If selected by the independent Club Globalkan jury, you'll play in front of the largest audience anywhere of international world music concert and festival bookers (over 700 last year), labels, distributors, journalists and industry professionals - everyone you need to help launch, re-launch, sustain and expand your career.

Funding: Please note that the organisers of Club Globalkan are not in the position to cover any fees, travel expenses or other costs. What will be provided is a 45 minutes showcase slot, the stage, the necessary equipment to perform and extensive promotional treatment. That includes promotion of the show itself, newsletters, online promo, publication of full bios and contact details in the WOMEX Guide, and much more. Additionally, all invited artists will get free full access to all features of the WOMEX event, plus one free registration for the partner of agreement (the artist representative).

So, if you want to propose a showcase, think carefully about financing and let the Jury know what support or funding you have.

Step 1:
Please download this pdf WOMEX 12 – Club Globalkan Custom Questions, (fill out and send by email to globalkan@gaialive.eu )

Please as well include in this email:
-subject line: WOMEX Club Globalkan proposal + name of artist
-a biography in English
-a discography (if available)
-full technical rider (including backline) & stage plot
-a selection of internet links (Youtube, Facebook, homepage, etc)

To be considered by the jury you need to send the above items - all of them, without exception and please send them in English.

Step 2:
Send your CDs and video/s to Gaia Live office

Send 2 CDs of your latest release plus (if available) DVDs/video material (performance video footage is preferred) via postal mail to Gaia Live office – address below.

Attention! Mark your package outside with "for promotional use only – non commercial value" and include the name of the artist. Sorry - the materials submitted cannot be returned.

Your proposal can only be considered if you fulfill both steps with a delivery deadline of Friday, 11 May 2012. Please as well include a printout of the custom questions pfd in the package. The application for performing on Golbalkan stage is free of charge
